80s Outfits Are Still Remembered

80s costumes still get you noticed. Walk into a costume party or dress up for Halloween, and you will get your share of admiring glances. 80s fashion is recognized for its vibrant and bold style. Movies from the 80s and the music were also memorable.

Flashdance made well known the sweatshirt with a large neckhole, that is easily recognised. This was also the movie that made legwarmers popular. From this movie, of course, was the famous song ‘What A Feeling’ by Irene Cara.

When thinking of 80s costumes for women, you can also dress up as Madonna, who influenced the pop scene of the 80s and even the fashion scene. There were the skirts over capri pants, lace tops, jewelry, bracelets, fishnet stockings and bleached hair. It was also the era of liquid leggings. Neon colored clothes were fashionable as were the matching accessories.

Men do not have to feel left out. There was the hip hop and rapper styles which were the 80s trend. Men also wore chunky jewelry. The early 80s were the time for baggie jeans, hoodies and track suits. This however changed in the late 80s, when sophisticated pink blazers, polo shirts and track suits took over.

Michael Jackson was one of the most successful male artists of the 1980s. Dress up like Michael Jackson and break in song with a few dance moves, and you are sure to get attention. His leather jacket and Moonwalk dance moves are so well known.

Major clothing trends of this period were jean jackets, shoulder pads, leather pants, skin-tight acid-washed jeans, miniskirts, leggings and legwarmers. There were also the headbands, sunglasses, Swatch watches, slap bracelets in many colors, and the Rubik’s cube was popular during the 80s.
